BOSS4 Control Unit for remote fuel dispensing control

Fuel dispensers controller

The BOSS4 control unit is assigned to control mechanical fuel dispensers from the fuel station control system (site controller), for instance PRIMA or POS. The BOSS4 is delivered in two different versions.

  • direct control of the dispenser contactors and valves with 230V AC.
  • control of the dispenser contactors and valves by means of the ADAST SOP superstructure with a 24V DC (in this version it is connected as the TEOS control unit).

Technical parameters

BOSS4 control unit functions

The BOSS4 enables the control system (site controller) to control directly the mechanical fuel dispensers and sends the transaction data (volume and total amount of the fuel dispensed) to the control system. The BOSS4 control unit communicates with the control system (site controller) via a two-wire communication line with the RS-485 interface. The communication protocol is compatible with that of the electronic calculators ADP1, ADP2 and ADPMPD. The compatibility of communication protocols enables a simultaneous connection of the BOSS4 control unit and electronic calculators of the ADP series to the only communication line and their simultaneous control from the fuel station control system (site controller).

The use of BOSS4 units for the fuel station with mechanical fuel dispensers brings a number of advantages:

  • the fuel station operators from the fuel station control system control the fuel dispensing from the mechanical dispensers in the same way as the dispensing from the electronic fuel dispensers. The modes of the preset of the volume or prepay of total amount are also possible to control from the fuel station control system,
  • in case of fuel station technology innovation, when the mechanical dispensers are replaced with the electronic ones, only the map of the fuel station has to be changed while the hardware and software of the control system remains the same,
  • the combination of the BOSS4 control unit (with mechanical dispensers connected) and electronic fuel dispensers allows a progressive replacement of the mechanical dispenses with the electronic ones; so that the user can spread the costs of investment when innovating the fuel station technology,
  • the BOSS4 control unit meets - for the dispensing from the mechanical fuel dispensers - the requirement of fiscal laws of a direct entry of data on the fuel dispensed (volume and total amount) into the fiscal cash register (of the fuel station control system).
